The Raven Nevermore

20 X 16 Acrylic on canvas.

This was done for a friend’s Halloween theme party.

The raven at night under the purple moon.

The title of this painting was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s poem ‘The Raven,’ although the painting itself really has nothing to do with Poe’s story. But this was an homage to him.

Poe was like the Tim Burton of his time. He was a pioneer of Gothic and dark imagery and deserves this credit.

In this painting I experimented with dripping techniques to create the rain effect in the background.

Check out this video of this street artist. It’s amazing to me how fast he does a painting and it comes out looking this great. It looks like something that would be fun to learn.

No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry

Said said
Said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba, ob-serving the hypocrites
As they would
mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have had,
Oh, good friends we’ve lost
along the way
In this great future you can’t forget your past
So dry your tears, I say

No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
Ee little darling, don’t shed no tears
No, woman, no cry

Said, said,
Said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
As it was log wood burnin’ through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I’ll share with you

My feet is my only carriage
So I’ve got to push on through
But while I’m gone, I mean…

Everything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright
Ev’rything’s gonna be alright

So woman, no cry
No, no, woman,
No, woman, no cry
Oh, my little sister, don’t shed no tears
No, woman, no cry

I remember when we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
As it was log wood burnin’ through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I’ll share with you

My feet is my only carriage
So I’ve got to push on through
But while I’m gone…

No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
Woman, little darling, say, don’t shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Yeah

Little darling don’t shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Little sister, don’t shed no tears,
No, woman, no cry,

Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me, as her body once did
All five horizons revolved around her soul, as the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn

Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands shake beneath the clouds
Of what was everything

All the pictures had
All been washed in black, tattooed everything
I take a walk outside, I’m surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so what do I say?

And twisted thoughts that spin round my head
I’m spinning, oh, I’m spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
Of what was everything

All the pictures had
All been washed in black, tattooed everything
All the love gone bad, turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all that I’ll be, yeah

I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life
I know you’ll be a star in somebody else’s sky
But why, why, why can’t it be, can’t it be mine?

Every Breath You Take

20X16 Acrylic on canvas.

Love can sometimes take your breath away and hit you at the primal level. This feeling is represented in this abstract painting by the primary colors of the spectrum: red, blue, yellow. These colors are blended together for a cool and calming effect.

I don’t know what I would have done if I was there. But I would have been shocked, that’s for sure. Pretty funny.

Here’s an excellent documentary about the artist Vincent Van Gogh. If you don’t know anything about him, this video pretty much sums it up and will teach you a lot. The actor who plays him here did an amazing job. Enjoy.

Love, let me sleep tonight on your couch
And remember the smell of the fabric
Of your simple city dress

Oh… that was so real

We walked around til the moon got full like a plate
The wind blew an invocation and I fell asleep at the gate
And I never stepped on the cracks ’cause I thought I’d hurt my mother
And I couldn’t awake from the nightmare that sucked me in and pulled me under
Pulled me under

Oh… that was so real

I love you, but I’m afraid to love you
I love you, but I’m afraid to love you
I’m afraid…

Oh… that was so real

‘What’s My Line?’ was a game show back in the 1950’s where a blind folded panel of judges had to guess who the special guest was.

This is a clip of when master artist Salvador Dali was a guest.

Sunny Day Real Estate ‘Pillars’-

But you always want to stay the same girl
I know you want to be the rain
And you know that we could fall in there
For a time and then unfall again
For a while I take you burying old bones
Dawn’s gray the signs in the winter light
And I know that you can feel the pain
Your eyes speak one hundred million knives

Don’t tell me you’ve gone astray
I walk in circles
I’ve seen a million things that tell me so

But I was always one to play the fool girl
Though the rules were somewhat dark to me
And I know that we could fall in there
For a time and then unfall again
For a while I give you darium bound stones
Growing through the roots of your mind set apart
And I know that you can feel the pain
Your eyes speak one hundred million lies

Don’t tell me you’ve gone astray
I walk in circles
I’ve seen a million things that tell me so

Total anxiety paid for variety
We’ll wait for time to turn around, turn around your faith
Wait for time to turn

The world we sold, there was a choir there

Don’t tell me you’ve gone astray
I talk in circles
Everlasting chains that bind my purpose
Only I’ve seen a million things that tell me so

Total anxiety pay for variety
Wait for time to turn around your faith
Choked on society laced with cyanide
Wait for time to turn around your faith
Wait for time to turn
