Bougainvillea vines grow free and wild over here in Flagler Beach. For this painting, I picked the flowers from a vine from right by my house. I stuck it right in a water jug and produced this still life. The rich colors of these vines are what really catches my eye.

This is the sixth piece from the Modern Vibe Series called ‘Modern Vibe 6.’ In this abstract piece, I strayed away from the Mondrian influence somewhat and incorporated circles. I like the way circles and squares complement each other in an art piece.

Life has its ups and downs. But always remember: “Every Little Thing Is Gonna Be Alright.”

This is the first piece from the Modern Vibe Series. It’s called Modern Vibe 1. This one probably has the strongest Mondrian influence out of the bunch. In this, I explored the use of the primary colors: red, blue and yellow. I often use the primary colors in my work because I like the way they look together.

I did a digital painting series called ‘The Modern Vibe Series’ which was influenced by the Modern Art movement and especially the artwork of Piet Mondrian.  I really love the look of Mondrian paintings and it’s fun to explore minimalism and contemporary non representational abstract.

Once in a while I get into doing abstract art because it’s fun to improvise which is pretty much what I do when I do abstracts. I don’t do too much planning with it. I go for a “feel” and just let myself go and do what comes spontaneously. It’s very cathartic. To use an analogy: it’s like playing jazz music- you just let it flow free.

This is piece #10 of the series.

This is a novelty painting I did of one of my favorite cities in the world: Seattle. I did it in the style of Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting ‘Starry Night.’

I purposely made it look like ‘Starry Night’ as an homage to both: one of my favorite artists and one of my favorite cities.
