“Life isn’t fair.”

This is what someone recently said to me. You’ve probably heard this saying a million times. You can either accept it or deny it. Me, I choose to accept it because I feel it makes me deal with life easier. But I’ve always been one of those people who likes to call out things as they truly are and not look at things through rose colored glasses. I’d rather deal with with a brutal truth than a comfortable lie. That’s just me.

But it’s true, life really isn’t fair. Based on your perspective, some would say I’m luckier than others or unlucky -depending on who you talk to. Some of us were born closer to the finish line than others. I recognize that. Whether this means you’re richer, taller, prettier, etc. etc. That’s just the way it is. You really have no control, good or bad, how you were brought in or brought up in this world. We really have no say about where we started from.

Some people like to sulk in misery because they feel like life dealt them a bad hand. I can understand why they feel this way because I see that some people really do have a hard life. I can sympathize with that. But what I say to that is: FIGHT. Fight hard with your will and determination to improve yourself and your situation. I know it’s easier said than done BUT it can be done, I’ve seen people do it.

This is the part of your life that you DO have control over. Self improvement. I’m a firm believer in this. Whatever your lot in life is right now, whether you’re ahead or behind, you can take the steps to become better. It just takes discipline and will. You have to play with the cards you were dealt.

So whatever your short or long term goal may be to make your life better; whether you want to lose weight, quit smoking, make more money, whatever it may be- just get started. YOU have to be the one to take that first step.

Yeah, life isn’t fair but so what?  I refuse to just lay down and die.
