Drown

No matter where you are
I can still hear you when you drown
You’ve traveled very far
Just to see if I’ll come around
When I’m down
All of those yesterdays
Coming down
No matter where you are
I can still hear you when you dream
You traveled very far
You traveled far, like a star
And you are
All of those yesterdays
Coming down
Is it something someone said?
Was it something someone said?
Yesterday the sky was you
And I still feel the same
Nothing left for me to do
And I still feel the same
I wish, I wish I could fly
I wish, I wish I could lie
I will, I will try
I will, I will
Goodbye

What-one-does2

This quote from Pablo Picasso really hits home with me. As an artist, being a visual person, I’ll sometimes have a vision of a painting inside my head and a lot of times that’s enough for me to feel satisfied. But like the saying goes, “Art cannot exist in a vacuum,” meaning that art needs to be brought out into the world from the artist’s mind in order to truly exist and serve its purpose.

This is why I have a lot of respect for writers. Every writer I know toils away at their book, screenplay, etc. constantly perfecting their craft, bringing their words out into the physical world until the work is finished. This is a bad habit of mine as a visual artist that I am working on correcting. I have to remember that art cannot truly exist in a vacuum-it can’t just stay in my head, it’s really for other people to enjoy so it needs to be brought out from the mind onto paper or canvas.

Ideas are a dime a dozen. If it’s not brought out into the world it’s really not worth anything. It’s all about manifesting.

“Landslide”

I took my love and took it down
I climbed a mountain, I turned around
And I saw my reflection in a snow covered hill
’til a landslide brought it down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause I’ve
Built my life around you
Time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m getting older, too
I’m getting older, too

I took my love and took it down
I climbed a mountain, I turned around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hill
The landslide brought it down
The landslide brought it down

This quote reminds me of a similar one that one of my old mentors once told me. He said, “You can either make results or make excuses, you can’t do both.”

This stuck with me all these years and I use it to remind myself whenever I find myself trying to bow out of something with an excuse. My favorite excuse used to be, “I’m too tired.” But I’ve since removed that one from my mind.

We’re only here for a short time, so you might as well keep busy on your dreams/goals.

Something About You

Now, how can it be
That a love carved out of caring
Fashioned by fate could suffer so hard
From the games played once too often
But making mistakes is a part of life’s imperfection
Born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all?

Drawn into the stream of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams, they can’t disguise the truth

That there is something about you, baby, so right
I wouldn’t be without you ,baby, tonight

If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn’t feel
A million things and a perfect dream of life (gone) fragile but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love
And it’s not so wrong; we’re only human after all

These changing years, they add to your confusion
Oh and you need to hear the time that told the truth

Because, there’s something about you, baby, so right
I wouldn’t be without you, baby, tonight

Because there’s something about you, baby, so right
I couldn’t live without you, tonight

quote-Ricky-Gervais-the-grass-isnt-always-greener-on-the-178909_1

When I was younger, I made the mistake of constantly moving around thinking that’s how I would find myself and my happiness, when really,  I was in me all along. Happiness starts with YOU no matter where you go.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it.

3 choices

So I’ve decided to pick the third option.
