After 3 months of buying it, he’s finally using it.

Do you know why people get bored? Because they feel that what they’re doing isn’t something meaningful. Their focus shifts, their motivation gets depleted. Most people fail to grasp the significance of any given moment. They fail to understand that we’re all given the same number of hours. Each day. Hours that, when wasted, […]

“You learn something valuable from all of the significant events and people, but you never touch your true potential until you challenge yourself to go beyond imposed limitations.”

The Crow is one of my all time favorite movies. It’s a dark superhero movie based on James O’Barr’s 1989 comic book/graphic novel  The Crow. The film is actor Brandon Lee’s final movie. The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven, a rock musician who comes back from the dead to get revenge on the people who killed him and who also raped and killed his fiancee.’ He comes back as a “ghostly,” dark,  being to get the ultimate revenge on his tormentors.

The film is also famous because, Brandon Lee (son of Martial Arts legend Bruce Lee), was accidentally killed at just 28 years old, on the set during filming.  A freak accident occurred in which a projectile from a gun loaded with blanks somehow fired and struck Brandon Lee in the stomach.  It was eight days away from being finished so the producers used digital effects to fill in the scenes that Brandon Lee couldn’t complete.  The film is dedicated to Lee and his fiancée, Eliza.

The Crow was revolutionary with its visual style, influencing such movies like The Matrix and Blade, with its dark Comic Book Noir visuals and action sequences. The film was a hit and has built a strong cult following over the years, especially among Gen-X’ers. This was one of the great films of the 90’s generation.

In recent years, there has been talk and plans in Hollywood to do a big budget remake of The Crow.  The remake was going to star Jason Momoa as Eric Draven/The Crow. But the deal to do this reboot fell through.

Financial issues between the producers and Sony, which was to have distributed the movie, are said to be the cause of the film’s demise.

Alex Proyas, director of the 1994 original film, had spoken against the remake, describing it as disrespectful to the memory of fallen star Brandon Lee.

On some level I have to agree with Alex Proyas. Now don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of Jason Momoa. I loved his work on Game Of Thrones and he was probably the coolest looking Aquaman of all time. But this is The Crow. You can’t replace Brandon Lee as The Crow. That’s like saying you’re going to replace John Lennon in the Beatles. It just won’t be the same.

In my opinion, like the original Star Wars or The Wizard of Oz, this is a film you don’t touch.

Brandon Lee didn’t just play The Crow. He WAS The Crow.

May his legacy live on.
